knitting
knitting is widely known in various regions of this beautiful world. from preschool girls to grannies, from alternative post-hippies to creative gays, and even *gasp* completely "normal" people pick up the needles today. i'm not one of them. i'm a gothic nerd girl. but anyway.
the craft's origins are clouded, but the oldest known knitted fabric was found in egypt and is of coptic origin. apparently it is a sock.
i started knitting, like all the other needlework i do, in my early university years. but it took me until 2008 to find the single most awesome knitting community on the web: ravelry (where i am better known as tryphina). and i didn't even find it myself, a very good friend directed me there.
